- To connect your Sidecar

  1. Connect the base stand to your Sidecar at the same angle as your phone’s stand.
  2. Position the phone and Sidecar next to each other on a flat, level surface, as close together as you can.

  1. Locate the holes for the thumb screws (between the top-most and middle stand slot).
  2. Hold the metal bracket so that the four tabs face away from you, and the arrow on the back of the bracket points up.
  3. Position the holes in the metal bracket over the thumb screw holes. The four tabs on the bracket fit in the top-most and middle stand slots.

  4. Insert the thumb screws in the holes, and tighten using your fingers.
  5. Turn the phone and Sidecar upside down on the table.
  6. Insert the cable connector between the AUX port on the phone, and the AUX 1 port on the Sidecar, then thread the cable through the cable grooves on the Sidecar and phone. If the phone is connected to the network, the Sidecar will automatically power on and start up.

  7. To connect another Sidecar, attach another cable connector between the AUX 2 port on the first Sidecar and the AUX 1 port on the second Sidecar. (You can connect a maximum of three Sidecars to one phone.)

To configure your Sidecar for use

Depending on the Power Keys plan you have purchased, your Sidecar can be configured for a combination of BLF keys (which allow you to monitor extensions to see who is busy and who is available) and Speed Dials.

Power Keys must be set up in Account Manager or Virtual Office Configuration Manager by a system administrator. If you do not have access to Account Manager or Virtual Office Configuration Manager, please contact your phone system admin to configure Power Keys for your Sidecar.

- To connect your VVX EM Expansion Module

  1. Connect the base stand to your Sidecar at the same angle as your phone’s stand.
  2. Position the phone and Sidecar next to each other on a flat, level surface, as close together as you can.
  3. Press the USB from the sidecar into the side of the phone.
  4. Use the provided hardware to secure the sidecar to the desk phone.

This new updated Polycom sidecar is built to plug into the side USB port on the Polycom VVX 450 and grab configuration and power directly from the host VVX 450. This expansion module adds an additional 90 presence keys. This allows for 50 BLFs (including the 11 BLFs on the VVX 450’s display) plus an additional 51 favorites, or speed dials. This solution is ideal for a user that regularly transfers calls to off-net numbers.

Re-install any cables you unplugged. Now your sidecar(s) is ready to use. Please follow the "Creating Custom Buttons - Polycom" for adding buttons to the expansion module(s).
