In this guide we will review options for connecting a headset to your PC softphone client.

Step 1: What type of headset do I have?

  • Headsets can be connected both wirelessly and hardwired depending on the make and model.
  • Confirm what type you are using:
    • USB A (Wired)
    • USB C (Wired)
    • Bluetooth (Wireless)
    • 3.5 MM (Wired)

Step 2: Connect your headset.

  • Wired
    • Connect your headset into your laptop, PC, or docking station. Once your device is connected, its important to ensure the audio settings are changed inside the Marketspace/VoIP application.
    • There are 3 different types of audio settings that can be adjusted based on your preference. Within the PC app, select the Profile/Avatar picture on the top left and choose settings. Click on the audio tab.
      • 1 Microphone - This sets the device and volume for people being able to hear you, you must select your headset from this drop down.
      • 2 In-Call Audio - This sets the volume and the ability for you to hear other people. You must select your headset from the drop down.
      • 3 Ring Tone - When a call comes in, you can have the sound play through your headset or PC speakers. You may or may not choose your headset depending on where you'd like the ring tone to play.
  • Wireless
    • Confirm if your headset is Bluetooth or just wirelessly paired to a cradle. If your headset is wireless to a cradle, follow the wired steps above. If Bluetooth, move onto the pairing steps below.
    • Before you can use your headset, you must pair the device to your PC. In the search bar within Windows, search "Bluetooth"
    • Your headset will need to be in Discovery or Pairing mode. This process varies depending on the model. Please check your headset user guide for this.
      • Select "Add Device" and locate your headset. If you do not see your device listed, it may not be in pairing mode.
    • Once your device is connected, its important to ensure the audio settings are changed inside the Marketspace/VoIP application.
    • There are 3 different types of audio settings that can be adjusted based on your preference. Within the PC app, select the Profile/Avatar picture on the top left and choose settings. Click on the audio tab.

      • 3 Ring Tone - When a call comes in, you can have the sound play through your headset or PC speakers. You may or may not choose your headset depending on where you'd like the ring tone to play.

Step 3: Test your headset by making a call

  • Now that your headset is connected with the proper settings, make a test call to your cell phone or a coworker. Test for two-way audio. If you do not have audio, double check your application settings, check the physical connections, and reboot your PC. If you still have issues, contact support by emailing support@844cadence.com
